You’ll often hear people taking sides about what’s better: the old or the new. Take music, for example. When I was in high school many of my friends were “historians” and would try to get me to listen to music from the 1960s and 70s. “Only “classic” rock is good” they’d say.
I was on the other side. “Oh no way…it sounds old and goofy. New music is where it’s at!”
But in the kingdom of God things old and new are valuable. In the gospel according to Matthew, Jesus says, “Then you see how every student well-trained in God’s kingdom is like the owner of a general store who can put his hands on anything you need, old or new, exactly when you need it.”
