Dear Elim Grace,
Two days ago we finished our 40 day fast for a 40 year revival! Some ate chicken for the first time in a long time, others returned to social media after a long break. A question we may ask is, now what? Does my life go back to normal? Will we see some immediate change in the life of Elim Grace?
First, what God has done in us during these 40 days may be invisible, even imperceptible to us. We cannot always perceive what is occurring in the spirit, what God is doing “behind the scenes,” yet we trust God is always doing something.
Still, some of you may perceive that something has occurred in your heart. Maybe you’ve established a consistent habit of prayer. Maybe your spiritual sensibilities are heightened. Maybe you don’t want to go back to social media, its appeal lessened if not dissipated completely.
Yes, there may be things God has permanently altered in your life. I would encourage you, then, be slow and not quick to return back to normal activities.
Second, when God begins to move in our midst and answers our prayer for revival, it will likely not look like what we imagine it would. In fact, we may not recognize it at first in our midst at all. Let us be slow to judge the “effectiveness” of our fast in terms of its outcome. We do not want to grieve the Spirit of God by despising the day of small beginnings or by making little of what He is doing right now.
Third, we will continue to pray (and preach) for revival and seek God for a vast and powerful move of His Spirit. In fact, I am beginning a prayer meeting every Monday at noon at Elim Grace for revival. The invitation is open to all who can attend.
It is my conviction, and it is the conviction of many I talk to, that God is on the verge of moving in a new and fresh way in our day. May we stick to His ways and run after Him with all of our heart.
Will you join me today? Let’s set a 1+ minute timer and pray for God to send revival to our church and city.
